An Azure account in South Africa
As currently configured, model calls go through Silk's Microsoft Azure AI Foundry account in South Africa North. Storage is disabled on each model call, and the platform operates under Microsoft's modified abuse-monitoring arrangement, so prompts and documents are not kept for review by the provider.

Does Silk make our firm POPIA-compliant?
No product can do that for you: your firm remains the responsible party for the personal information it processes. Silk gives you the controls to evidence your approach — role-based AI-use policies, a review queue, an audit trail and an Azure account in South Africa North — and its terms commit both parties to comply with POPIA.
Where is our data processed?
Your firm's data is stored in South Africa, and model calls go through Silk's Microsoft Azure account in South Africa North, as set out in the terms. Storage is disabled on each model call, and documents travel with each request rather than sitting in a provider-side file store.
Is our data used to train models?
No. Prompts, documents and answers are not used to train any model, and Silk does not use your content for product improvement without a separate written opt-in.
Who sees a declined request?
Your own firm's administrators and the reviewers for the requester's department, in the review queue. They can approve it, decline it, or grant a standing exception.
Can we sign in with our Microsoft accounts?
Yes. Each firm can connect Microsoft Entra ID for single sign-on and import its directory. Without it, sign-in is email and password plus a second factor.
