Authorities it fetched,
not authorities it remembers.
Silk searches South African case law in the Law Library and cites only what its research tools retrieved or what you supplied. Anything else is flagged unverified before anyone relies on it.
Free 14-day trial · then from R900 per attorney per month · extra usage only if your firm chooses it
Sourced, cited, verifiable — and still yours to check.
Searches real sources
Research tools search the Law Library (South Africa, run by Laws.Africa), NamibLII and the UK's Find Case Law, with existence checks against CanLII. Each authority Silk cites from them links to its source.

Every unretrieved citation flagged
A guardrail checks each reply: a citation that was neither retrieved by the research tools nor present in your own documents is marked unverified on the spot, and missing authorities are left as placeholders for the practitioner.

Verified legislation links
Cited Acts that resolve against the Laws.Africa Content API gain a verified legislation link. Nothing is labelled verified unless the source positively resolved it.

A research memorandum on the case file
One click runs a research memorandum grounded in the case's own documents and the authorities retrieved for that case — versioned, and exported to Word on your firm's stationery.

Queries without client names
Research queries carry legal concepts only — never client or party names or case numbers — and every search is recorded in the firm's audit trail. A firm can switch the research tools off entirely.

One price per seat.
Every seat carries a usage allowance that resets every five days — a fixed price, never a running account. Start on a 14-day trial, then choose each person's seat.

Questions firms ask
Are Silk's citations always right?
No AI tool can promise that, and Silk does not. What it does is narrower and checkable: it cites only what its research tools retrieved or what you supplied, links each authority to its source, and flags anything else as unverified. A practitioner must still read the authority before relying on it.
Which sources does Silk search?
The Law Library (lawlibrary.org.za) for South African judgments and legislation, NamibLII for Namibia, Find Case Law for the United Kingdom, and CanLII for Canadian existence checks. Silk does not scrape sites that do not permit automated access.
Can it research against our own documents?
Yes. Upload opinions, pleadings and bundles to a case — scanned PDFs and photographs are read with OCR — and Silk answers from them alongside the authorities it retrieves, citing which document each point came from.
Is client information sent to the research sources?
No. Searches carry legal concepts only, never client or party names or case numbers, and each search is audited. Firms that prefer can switch external research off.
What does it cost?
Seats are priced per attorney per month: Base R900, Pro R2 000 and Max R3 000, after a free trial. Deep analysis is on Pro and Max.
Research you can check.
After the trial, plans start at R900 per attorney per month — a fixed price with a five-day usage allowance, never a running account.
